$135,000 Lump Sum Settlement for Injured Building Engineer
A union building engineer was represented by Jonathan Koutcher, Esquire of Pearson Koutcher Law. Mr. Koutcher defended the rights of the injured worker to continue receiving Worker’s Compensation wage loss and medical benefits. The injured worker lost a portion of his thumb while at work as a result of an industrial accident. The Worker’s Compensation insurance company began paying the injured worker wage loss benefits. However, the Worker’s Compensation insurance company stopped paying wage loss benefits, alleging the injured worker only suffered a specific loss and was therefore only entitled to a certain number of weeks of benefits, which the injured worker had already received. Mr. Koutcher filed petitions with the court which were successful and permitted the injured worker to continue receiving ongoing wage loss benefits. The parties attended a mediation and the case resolved for the lump sum amount of $135,000 plus payment of additional medical expenses in the future.
