On Thursday night September 12, 2019 Pearson Koutcher Law partners Eric Pearson and Jon Koutcher were honored when they were invited to hold a “town hall meeting” by IBEW Local 614 to discuss hearing loss claims and asbestos, mesothelioma and lung cancer. Jon began the event by informing the Peco employee union members, both current and retirees, of their rights to receive benefits for occupational hearing loss from being exposed to high levels of noise at work. Jon explained how the Pennsylvania Workers’ Compensation laws provide money for damages to workers whose occupation has caused hearing loss, payment for doctor visits and hearing aids at no cost to the worker along with the process of getting hearing tested and what levels of loss are needed to qualify. Jon concluded by staying at the meeting until the last of any individual questions were answered. Pearson Koutcher Law introduced attorney, BA Kagan, of Shein Law….. Ms Kagan is a lawyer who only handles asbestos, mesothelioma and lung cancer cases. She explained the importance of getting screened to the members since many of them have been exposed to agents that are harmful. She too remained until all questions were answered. This extremely well attended informational meeting was so well received and felt to be of such importance to the union that the event will again be held next month for those that were working or unable to make this date.
